The show is still on! We are still planning to hold the event outside, but in case of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors to the Arts Incubator Event Loft (same block, overlooking West 18th St). Indoor access is only available to VIP ticket-holders. Tickets are still available for sale at birdies – open today from noon to 4pm. Check the West 18th Street Fashion Show Twitter account at 5pm for another update. Thank you!
Check out our recent interviews with designers Peggy Noland and Birdies‘ owners, Peregrine Honig and Danielle Meister, for the 2010 West 18th Street Fashion Show, A Decadent Summer.
Just a couple more to be released before the big event on Saturday! Today’s featured designers are Kaylin Hertel interviewed with her jewelry/accessories designer, Erica Voetsch; Jamilah Knight; and Amanda Nervig. All I can say is origami, metal, muted and bold, lights, and japanese obi. You know?
Today’s featured designers are Nataliya Meyer, Faith Evangeline, and Sarah Nelsen. Nataliya Meyer with Oblivion Clothing Design is a returning designer to the West 18th Street Fashion Show. Faith Evangeline with Evil Pawn Jewelry will be designing jewelry and accessories for Nataliya’s collection, and Sarah Nelsen is a local artist and designer. We recently interviewed them to to learn a little bit more about them, and to hear about their 2010 collections for the West 18th Street Fashion Show runway.
Today’s featured designers are Shannon Bailey, Meagan Stracy, and Sara Emami. Each of them describes their drastically different take on the theme of decadence in the following videos. Shannon and Sara are both returning designers and Maegan is a first-time designer in the West 18th Street Fashion Show. We saw their collections at the dress rehearsal last weekend, and you are in for a serious treat on Saturday! If you would like to learn more about these designers or contact them, please visit the designer page of our website. FYI – both types of tickets are still available at Birdies while supplies last.
Recently we met with some of the West 18th Street Fashion Show designers and they told us a bit about themselves and what they are designing for this year’s show. Today we are featuring Liz Peters, Jovana Mirabile and her jewelry designer, Rachael Longgrear, and Tricia Rock. You can learn more about them on the designer’s page of our website. Each day this week, we will be releasing a few designer interviews so be sure to stay tuned. And remember, the show is this Saturday night, so check the site for more information or to learn about how to buy tickets.
Online ticket sales have ended, but both Patron and Spectator tickets are still available for purchase at Birdies. 116 W. 18th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108. Birdies is open Tue-Sat 12pm-7pm. All tickets are sold in advance; there are no on-site ticket sales.

The Patron’s party includes complimentary wine by Cellar Rat, Boulevard beer, snacks from Happy Gillis and beautiful decadent mini-cupcakes from Dolce Baking Company.
Last night, the designers and producers of the upcoming West 18th Street Fashion Show had a cocktail party at the lovely and local JP Wine Bar in the Crossroads. Everyone had a wonderful time mixing, mingling and sharing what they are working on for the upcoming show. Each designer brought a sample or photo of a runway piece to share with the production committee, and we were blown away at the level of creativity, construction, and enthusiasm of these extremely talented artists and designers. It was wonderful to get a glimpse of what they are envisioning for the runway, but it was also fun to get to know them a bit better. Each of our 18 fashion designers and five accessory designers all have impressive credentials, training, and artistic talent. Many of them live in Kansas City, but not all of them. Some live in fashionable locals like New York City, many have displayed in galleries all over the world, they have connections to celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Mia Tyler, we have award winners, international artists, and even several entrepreneurial designers who sell their designs all over the world. You can read more about each designer and view their websites in the designer section of our website.
Please enjoy these photos of last night’s event taken by this year’s official show photographer, Brad Austin Rocketbox Photography, and be sure to get your tickets online or at Birdies. Thank you to JP Wine Bar for your sponsorship support. We love our sponsors and this event would not be possible without their generosity.
The planning meetings for the West 18th Street Fashion Show production committee are getting more frequent and more intense as the show approaches. Here are some photos of the producers hard at work. Just look at this fashionable crew! Thanks to the Arts Incubator for letting us meet in their lovely event loft.
